Angers vs Reims: betting odds 25 Feb 2025

The quarter-final match of the French Cup between Angers and Reims will take place on February 25 at the Raymond Kopa Stadium. Angers vs. Reims: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Angers

Alexander Duje's team defeated Strasbourg 3-1 away in the previous round of the national cup. This victory marked their fifth in the last six matches of this tournament (1 loss), with Angers scoring at least two goals in four of those wins. It is worth noting that the club last reached the quarter-finals in the 2020/21 season, where they lost to PSG 0-5.

  • The number "1" appeared in the final scoreline in 6 of Angers' last 8 games in the French Cup.
  • At home in the national cup, the team has not lost in regular time in 7 of their last 9 matches (5 wins, 2 draws).
  • The club has not conceded more than one goal in 7 of their last 9 home matches in this tournament.

Predicted lineup for Angers (4-5-1)

Melvin Zinga – Florent Ainin, Abdoulaye Bamba, Lilian Rao-Lisoa, Emmanuel Bioumla – Zinedine Ferhat, Jim Allevinah, Yassine Belkdim, Himad Abdelli, Pierrick Capelle – Esteban Lepaul.

Forward Esteban Lepaul is injured.

Reims

Samba Diawara's team narrowly overcame Bourgoin-Jallieu in the previous stage (0-0, extra time 0-0, penalties 3-2). Notably, Reims have taken their last two cup matches to penalty shootouts. Furthermore, the club has only one victory in regular time in their last four French Cup games (3 draws). The team last reached the quarter-finals 14 years ago.

  • Reims opened the scoring in 9 of their last 11 games in the national cup.
  • Away in this tournament, the club has not lost in regular time in 8 of their last 9 matches (6 wins, 2 draws).
  • In 5 of their last 7 away games in the French Cup, the team scored at least two goals.

Predicted lineup for Reims (4-5-1)

Alexandre Olliero – Hiroki Sakine, Cedric Kipre, Noah Sanjui, Mori Gbane – Valentin Atangana Edoa, Mamadou Diakone, Keito Nakamura, Junya Ito, John Patrick Finn – Umar Diakite.

Match Prediction: Angers vs. Reims

The opponents recently faced each other in the league 10 days ago, where Angers managed a 1-0 away victory against Reims, despite Samba Diawara's side being the favorites. However, such an outcome should not be surprising. Alexander Duje's team is currently in better form, which they can prove once again.

Angers have avoided defeat in 9 of their last 11 official matches (7 wins, 2 draws). At home, their results are slightly worse, with three losses in their last seven Ligue 1 games, but Marseille, Lyon, and PSG were the teams to take three points from Raymond Kopa during this stretch. Reims, on the other hand, have not won in 10 consecutive official matches (4 draws, 6 losses), and away from home, they only managed to beat relegation-battling Le Havre in their last 8 league encounters.

The recent match between the opponents was a tight contest with only one goal scored. Matches involving these teams are among the top 5 lowest-scoring in this championship, and now a place in the French Cup semi-finals is at stake. It is unlikely that either side will take significant risks and push forward in large numbers.

My prediction: Angers will not lose and total under 3.5 goals

Betting tips 25 Feb 2025

Throughout the Ligue 1 season, both Angers and Reims have consistently ranked among the league’s poorest attacks. It’s highly likely that this second head-to-head encounter of the season will be a lacklustre affair with limited chances, as neither side will be willing to take risks at this stage of the Cup.

Two weekends ago, Angers were fortunate to secure a 1:0 away victory against Reims. Across the entire match, the two sides managed just seven shots on target combined. At Angers’ home ground, the over 2.5 goals mark hasn’t been surpassed since the beginning of December (four consecutive matches). Against Marseille (0:2), the underdog generated a mere 0.49 xG and failed to register a single shot on target. Against Quevilly-Rouen Métropole (3:2) and Strasbourg (3:1), Angers benefited from defensive errors by their opponents, but without several injured players, they struggled to create chances.

In the French Cup Round of 16, Reims only overcame Bourgoin Jallieu on penalties (1:0). They have failed to score in their last four matches – against Rennes on Friday (0:1), they were down to ten men from the fifth minute following Cédric Kipré’s dismissal. The coaching staff will be hoping for an attacking transformation thanks to the partnership of Keito Nakamura and Junya Ito, but both Japanese players have also experienced a dip in form.

It’s probable that Angers and Reims will play their second head-to-head match in nine days without a lot of dangerous moments. Predicting the eventual semi-finalist is difficult, but goals will certainly be scarce.
